05.30.17 IBM InterConnect 2017

Drury Design Dynamics invited UVLD to light and deliver media for the IBM InterConnect Conference, which took over six venues in Las Vegas in March. Cameron Yeary headed up our media effort, and received a nice writeup from Christie Digital, the manufacturer of the Pandora Media Servers.

John Ingram designed the lighting for the IBM Amplify event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Chris Drury, President and Creative Director of Drury asked Ingram to create a different look from typical IBM events, utilizing precise color themes, consistent throughout the scenery and lighting. He wanted all lighting to support and enhance the graphic and color branding intent of the live experience.

Jerrod Smith of Designsmith Collaborative created a massive yet simple set of (8) various-sized translucent scrim cubes, a 120’ FP screen, a 36’ RP/FP screen and (2) 36’ cycloramas. The deck was roughly 64’x40’- lined with LED tape. The scrim cubes were arranged asymmetrically and had internal LED lighting product, which looked incredibly fab!

Ingram enlisted the incredible talents of lighting designer Matt Webb to artfully realize this event’s formidable requirements. Matt programmed a beautiful live “Elastic Shore” opening, guided by the visions of Creative Director Gretl Claggett. Collectively they created and choreographed light to support the live performers and video graphics.

Production Electrician Pete Campbell supervised the efficient install of a 4Wall lighting system comprised of:
(61) VariLite 4K Spots
(30) Robe BMFL Wash
(32) Clay Paky Mythos
(6) Martin Aura XB
(12) Chroma-q Color Force II 72
(2) Lycian M2 Long throw followspot

Executive Producer Maxine Montsegue of Drury produced the event. The TD was Steve Lemon. They both ran a tight ship, making our gig easy.

For all of the Drury Las Vegas IBM events, Philip Manin was Executive Producer and Ron Annas was TD.

For the other venues, we had an awesome team consisting of Paul Sharwell, Jeff Nellis, David Seitz, Greg Norgeot, and Brad Criswell.
