12.01.24 CAMP Stores
UVLD’s team was thrilled to develop a long-running creative partnership with CAMP, The Family Experience Company, supporting a series of experiential build-outs across multiple stores throughout the United States. CAMP’s retail model blends shopping with themed entertainment, and our role was to help shape the visual storytelling that makes these spaces come alive. We approached each location the way we would a theatrical production, designing lighting and effects that guided families through an immersive environment while highlighting the merchandise in a playful, inviting way.
Across several stores and storylines, UVLD helped translate CAMP’s imaginative concepts into fully realized spaces that were visually bold yet entirely brand- and IP-compliant. Our goal was simple: create environments kids couldn’t wait to explore. By treating each store as a miniature show — complete with dramatic reveals, focused looks, and fully realized scenic moments — we were able to give families a sense of surprise and delight from the moment they stepped inside.
A major component of these projects involved touch-based interactivity. Many CAMP experiences rely on moments where a child pushes a button, twists a knob, or triggers a floor or wall sensor, and the space responds with light, sound, or motion. UVLD developed show-control solutions that linked these tactile points to the visual elements of the environment, ensuring each interactive moment felt magical and immediate. These systems blended seamlessly with the rest of the design, allowing the stores to function as both retail spaces and fully programmed entertainment experiences.
The UVLD team — Matt Webb, Greg Cohen, David Seitz, and Sieun Ye — collaborated closely with CAMP’s creative team and founder to deliver consistency across multiple properties while keeping each location unique. The result was a series of vibrant, family-friendly spaces that merged storytelling and retail in a way that has become a hallmark of CAMP’s brand. The work remains some of our favorite experiential design, a joyful reminder of how theatrical techniques can transform everyday spaces into something special.
